Congratulations to Erik Abbott and his "Jolly" team, who took top honors at the 2010 Festival of European Anglophone Theatrical Societies (FEATS), held over Ascension weekend in Bad Homburg, Germany. Of the 12 plays in the competition, David Mamet’s Jolly, directed by Erik, was awarded “Best Production” during this 32-year old festival’s closing ceremony on Sunday evening. Actor Timothy Lone received the award for “Best Actor” for his performance as Jolly’s brother Bob, and Christine Probst was given very high praise for her portrayal of Jolly.

During the official adjudication following the performance on Saturday evening, as well as in remarks from the adjudicator during the awards ceremony, numerous accolades were showered upon virtually every aspect of this production.  Excerpting from the adjudicator’s comments, the actors “worked together seamlessly, strongly supporting each other to give us three out of three strong performances,” the sound (i.e. music) selections and editing were a “perfect match for the piece”, the lighting was “spot on”, the set and props “were correct in every detail” and the scene changes were “amazingly executed”. Moreover, Mathew Kovacs played the role of Carl, Jolly’s husband, in “just the restrained, low-key way the author intended”.
