Jackie Milne

Jackie is studying for her MA/PG in Performance (Acting) at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, London.

So, you've given up your job, your life in Luxembourg and jumped right in! What thoughts were rushing through your head on the way to the UK to start your course?

It was a stressful time before moving to the UK as there were many things to finalise at home in Luxembourg. I had to empty my apartment, sort out paperwork, tackle the reading list which the drama school had sent... So, all in all, I had about 2 days to "relax" and I tried to spend as much time as I could during those two days with my family and friends before the big move. I was tired, excited and emotional to say the least!

What have the first few weeks been like? Have you caught your breath? Are full of excitement or trepidation?

I'm now into my fourth week and I can't quite believe how fast time has flown by! It's been an amazing first few weeks. The tutors are fantastic, as are my fellow students, and I'm having an amazing time. I'm still full of excitement and I don't see any signs of that abating any time soon.

Apart from financial support, what else has being part of NWTC meant to you?

NWTC has given me the opportunity to participate in plays both behind the scenes and on stage which has allowed me to experience many aspects of theatre. And I am incredibly grateful to the committee for their support and generosity to allow me to pursue my dreams.
